Ray (Fred) Willis - June 1964-24th June 2007

Our friend and PLVSC member, Ray Willis, tragically died on his way home from our rally Sunday morning. All we know is that he came off his scooter and although he had help at the scene there was nothing that could be done to save him. The ambulance was not in attendance at the time.

Those that knew Ray will know that he was a gentle man and great fun. We will really miss him.

Over the many years of scootering Ray was a member of Bodger & Badger SC, Roaming Misfortunes SC, Peterborough Patriots and PLVSC.

Ray's funeral took place on Tuesday, 10th July and was respectfully attended by his loving family and many many friends.

We will always remember you Ray. Rest in peace.

Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead, Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves, Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves. He was my North, my South, my East and West, My working week and my Sunday rest, My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song; I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong. The stars are not wanted now: put out every one; Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun; Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood. For nothing now can ever come to any good.

27.7.2007:

Just had a look at the photos that Jacko had taken from the Bash and as you will see attached we had a great time with Ray on that fateful night, he didnt know any of us but made us feel really welcome, I remember him telling me on several occasions through the night " I hope your mate with the broken arm is ok " he was genuinely concerned for Martin's well being.
Picture is Ray in full swing with Jacko's lad Jake and my lad Liam.
As you can see we had a great time, if only we could turn the clock back we would still have the company of a terrifically genuine and fun loving guy.
I'm sure he will be greatly missed by his numerous friends who knew him a lot, lot longer than we did and we wish them and Ray's family all the best for the future, words cannot say enough but I can guarantee he would just like to be remembered as he was.
All the best.

Paul 'Winnie' Winfield lost his fight against cancer on 29th April 2009 aged 51.

PLVSC Honourary member Paul "Winnie" Winfield sadly passed away last night after a battle with cancer. If you don't recognise his name you would if you saw a photo of him. He is a great bloke. Winnie used to go to a lot of scooter events and all of our events. He used to go in his car because unfortunately due to a disability he was not able to ride a scooter but he loved them and the scene. Winnie told people that at his funeral he would love loads of scooters and scooterist to be there so we will make sure that happens for him.  Our sympathy and thoughts are for his family and friends. RIP mate.

8.5.2009

Stef M - Very sad to hear about the loss of Winnie, he was such a wonderful guy. Have known Winnie as a good Buddy on the Posh terraces, they were lively times but you always felt safe in his presence as he was a big guy when the away fans took one look at him and thought he's too hard to mess with, what we all know now is that this big chap also had a huge heart and was a pleasure to know. Was chatting to him recently and we were reminising about when we stood in the London Road terraces whilst the team were warming up, Tommy Robson, clattered this ball and Winnie turned round and it caught him full in the face, all the lads winced and then Winnies street cred went up even higher when he made it look like a fly bouncing off him, he did admit later to it hurting a bit and some 25 years later Tommy Robson was chatting to him and realised it was Winnie that caught the ball that day and profusely apologised. Winnie was really chuffed that one of our boy hood heroes had realised it was him. I know Winnie loved the Scooter and Northern scene and you could see he felt warmly embrassed when he was in the company of you guys. God Bless Winnie.

11.5.2009

Phil - Thanks for your clubs support at Winnie's funeral today. I know that his Mum appreciated seeing the scooters and that Win would have loved it.

Darren & Tracey - Cheers to Mark and all at PLVSC who went to Winney's funeral today. I hope he had a good larf at me braking down. He will be sadly missed. I always had time for him. RIP.

Corky - It was a honour to be there and to pay our respects to Winnie, such a lovely man and a good friend. Ride free mate.

Sad News Everyone. I got this text from Len Wrights brother.

Hi. I am the brother of Len Wright who lived in Kings Lynn and was or still is a member of the PLVSC. He had a Vespa with sidecar. He died 15 March. Funeral is at KL Crematorium 8 April at 2.30. Advert in tomorrow 's Lynn News. Regards Malcolm Lees

Not sure everyone will know Len, but he was the older guy with the sidecar. Len & Meryl. I think he got in scootering more times than grinner ! Anyways they was very much part of the club when i first came to Peterborough. I will do my best to get there, and please pass this on to anyone you knew that knew them.

Andy
